Abstract | This pamphlet describes the Pyramids Reading Program, which is part of a larger program in Minneapolis called Instruction in Basic Skills for Educationally Deprived Children. The reading program is funded under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The contents include: "General Information," which describes identification data, the school district, and the overall reading program; "Planning the Program," which looks at determining pupil needs and selecting pupil participants, specific objectives, involving parents and community, and identifying and using resources; "Managing the Program," which discusses staff selection, preparation and selection of facilities, and curriculum development; "Implementing the Program," which discusses staff training, instruction presentation, functions of the instructional materials center, involvement of parents and community members, and disseminating information; "Budget," which outlines the budgets for inservice components, instructional materials center, the Combine project, and the reading program in the intermediate grades; and "Evaluation," which includes evaluation reports for the teacher training course, the teacher-aide training course, the instructional materials center, and classroom instruction.
