Abstract | Four deficiencies that exist in the research literature that must be remedied before more conclusive answers about the effects of innovations in the teaching of psychology are examined. These deficiencies are: (1) failure to accurately describe teacher and learner behaviors involved in experimental and control treatments; (2) failure to investigate individual differences within the experimental samples employed; (3) failure to determine, select and employ appropriate measures of educational outcomes; and (4) failure to include cost-benefit consideration in evaluating outcomes.
