| Abstract | This document presents in detail the theoretical basis, history, and patterns of team teaching and ideas about implementing it. The document is divided into 10 chapters: theoretical basis, reasons for team teaching, planning and preparation, patterns of teamwork, programming work, grouping children, materials and equipment, flexible schools, assessment of work, and developmental team teaching. Each chapter concludes with a list of materials for further reading. The first chapter describes the focus of team teaching on the needs of children and the attempt to satisfy and structure these needs into the work of a school. Team teaching is seen as reasserting the importance of people and their relationships or reactions to one another within the context of the school. The book than traces the historical development of team teaching in England and the United States; discusses economic factors, staff deployment, slow learners, and the flexible school; and finally presents in detail implementation theory for team teaching.
