Abstract | Proceedings from an institute held in Michigan, October, 1972, for curriculum resource consultants on media, methods, and materials for special educators are presented. Described in the section on planning are the institute's objectives, criteria for selection of participants, resource consultants' names and addresses, and a review of planning decisions. The instructional phase consists of descriptions of the institute's events, which include such presentations as a multi-media approach to learning, use of an 8 mm movie camera for making educational films, film making, transparencies for teaching, videotape production, teacher media competencies for student learning, media within a systems framework, and instructional materials centers' services to curriculum consultants. Evaluation and feedback are discussed in relation to participants' statements and suggestions for improvement on the institute in general, the instructional staff and their strategies, and on the followup session. Provided are details of the followup session, in which presentations treated media utilization in the education of the handicapped, and systematic organization of inservice training; and in which participants engaged in brainstorming and reviewing activities. Included in the appendix are such items as a list of handouts, an outline of the institute, instructions for making or using the materials presented, a list of photographic terminology, and sources of equipment, materials, and publications (addresses are given for publications).
