| Abstract | This report reviews and analyzes court cases to determine the types of injuries to teachers and other school personnel that might be compensable under workmen's compensation laws. The author identifies certain injuries suffered by public school personnel "arising out of or in the course of employment." Other types of cases that deal with industrial workers, school district noncertificated personnel, and other vocational employees are cited. The report discusses (1) injuries occurring within the zone of the employer's business -- on the employer's premises, or directly connected in some tangible way to the employer's business; (2) injuries that occur outside the employee's zone of employment; and (3) injuries in which no causal relationship is established between the employee's injury and the employer's business.
