| Abstract | A communication training handbook developed for use in a pilot law enforcement training program, this manual contains materials relevant to the day-to-day activities of law enforcement personnel. Emphasis is placed on teaching methods which create a realistic approach to the study of communication. Video tape role playing sessions, conflict exercises, team-teaching techniques, and color films of campus riots to test perception are the instructional methods employed. The goal of these methods is to get participants involved in practical communication situations and realistic conflict situations. The manual contains all of the training materials used in the pilot training sessions, including outlines of the three introductory lectures on the communication process, nonverbal communication, and effective listening. Also included is the complete evaluation of the pilot training session and a 31 page bibliography with a special emphasis on communication pertinent to law enforcement. (LG) |
