Abstract | The articles presented in this document stem from taped presentations or post summations of speeches presented at a conference on the status of women held in the spring of 1972 by the Connecticut Education Association. The book can serve as a guide to three major problems: (1) sexual stereotypes; (2) the legal and economic status of women; and (3) the educational needs of women. Articles presented include: (1) Why Women Fail; (2) The Case for Womens Studies; (3) Sex Role Stereotypes in the Classroom; (4) Sex Role Socialization; (5) Masculinity and Femininity; (9) Teacher Maternity Provisions in Connecticut; (10) Growing Up as a Female Reader; (11) Women in Education; and (12) Sexual Politics in the Classroom.
