Abstract | The role of educational associations and agencies that are the constituent and associated "organization members" of the American Council on Education plus at least another dozen or two associations or agencies of national scope with considerable interest in postsecondary education are discussed in relation to their impact on federal programs and institutional policies. Their impact has been significant despite the diversity of educational institutions in the nation, the voluntary organizational arrangements, and the relatively small number of people working in the area of government relations. To improve federal relations emphasis is placed on institutional cooperation and the climate the association membership provides. (MJM) |
