Abstract | These two volumes comprise the official proceedings of the second White House Conference on Aging, held November 28-December 2, 1971. Volume I includes an overview of the Conference plan--its background, concepts, organization, and programming. It presents the contributions made by speakers at the General Sessions and Conference Delegate luncheons. Volume II is devoted to reports of the work of the 14 Subject Area Sections and the 17 Special Concerns Sessions, which resulted in the formulation of the Conference recommendations. These recommendations concern the following: Education; Employment and Retirement; Physical and Mental Health; Housing; Income; Nutrition; Retirement Roles and Activities; Spiritual Well-Being; Transportation; Facilities, Programs, and Services; Government and Nongovernment Organization; Planning; Research and Demonstration; Training; Health Care Strategies; Disability and Rehabilitation; The Rural and the Poor Elderly; The Elderly Among the Minorities; Protective and Social Support; and Roles for Old and Young.
