Abstract | The College Board sponsored a series of 5 conferences in 5 southwestern cities for educators in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas from 31 July through 4 August, 1972. The conferences were held in Phoenix, San Diego, Denver, Albuquerque, and Austin. The purpose of the conferences was to explore ways to bring about improvements in access to higher education for Mexican Americans. As a result of these conferences there were 147 recommendations, from which 30 were selected as being relevant to the entire region. The 30 recommendations of more than 200 educational leaders throughout the southwest are included in this report. These recommendations have been grouped into 4 categories: (1) recommendations to conferees, (2) recommendations to institutions, (3) recommendations to governmental agencies, and (4) recommendations to private agencies. The individual state recommendations are also included. (NQ) |
