Abstract | This paper is divided into three parts: compensatory education and its future, the kind of teacher education which will be used to support these compensatory trends, and a bibliography selection to provide background for both sections. The first part reviews the present condition, developments of compensatory education, the implications of future developments in other areas of education, and value judgements. The second part, implications for teacher education, concerns the forces and trends effecting education. Also included is an outline summary of what content might be offered to future teachers to support the compensatory education movement and the likelihood of such content actually being offered. The final section includes an annotated bibliography on teacher education and further selected bibliographies on teacher education, compensatory education, selected programs and demonstrations, selected project descriptions and discussions, compensatory programs and demonstrations, selected project descriptions and discussions, and compensatory programs.
