Abstract | The Attention and Classification Curriculum, which was developed for four-year-old children, is described and its implementation is discussed. The curriculum consists of a sequence of 40 lessons and a set of materials used to carry out the lessons. An evaluation of the curriculum was conducted following its use in nine participating centers. General and specific findings are presented. It is concluded that the successful implementation of the Attention and Classification Curriculum provides evidence that early childhood centers can incorporate curricular input when several criteria are met. The content of the curriculum has been found appropriate for the majority of children who were mostly three- and four-year-olds; the five-year olds in several of the centers needed a greater challenge.
