Abstract	The purposes of this publication are twofold: (1) to provide a state-of-the-art discussion of statewide planning for postsecondary education for the wide audience of the higher education community; and (2) to identify major areas amenable to future research and development of improved statewide planning and management systems. The contents of the document focus first on the current issues, organizational structures, and trends in alternative objectives and managerial procedures available to educational leaders. Finally, the authors address considerations of how to effect change in educational curricula and how institutions will respond to improved statewide planning. (Author)
