AbstractThis booklet presents the text of the addresses by three speakers at the Annual Conference of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, March 6-10, 1971, in St. Louis, Missouri. The first address, "Dare to Care/Dare to Act" by Price M. Cobbs, M.D., deals with the symptoms, the virulence, and the infectious nature of racism. He emphasizes the essential role played by blacks in the development of modern America, and the necessity for American education to make the changes necessary to cope with the racism prevalent in American society. The second address, "A place to come from," by Uvaldo Palomares proposes a system of communication which he believes extremely effective in bringing people of divergent viewpoints together, so that they at least understand each other and are communicating. Jerome S. Bruner's address, "The process of education reconsidered," discusses the context in which the book was written in 1960, and developments since then. The fourth address, "And they of the middle years," by Fred T. Williams, discusses the most urgent national priorities for action, as seen by its author. John D. Greene reviews his observations and thoughts on the conference in his address, "Impressions." Finally, Alvin D. Loving, Sr. discusses "The Concept of Avoidance" as applied to events concerning the conference speakers. (JM)
