Abstract	Since the end of World War II the public community college has grown in significance, and it is now the most rapidly multiplying educational institution in the country. This review of literature examines the role of these community colleges in occupational education in terms of methods of operation and extent of offering. Occupational preparation at the secondary school level is insufficient, which puts a heavier responsibility on the community college. One problem in fulfilling this responsibility is the financial limitations of the 2-year colleges in setting up proper training facilities and equipment. Literature on entrance requirements and characteristics of enrolling students, curriculum, administration, and methods of instruction are all discussed in this report, which should be of interest to community college administrators, curriculum planners, and educators. The author includes his recommendations for needed additional research, and an extensive bibliography. (Author/GEB)
