Abstract | This study was designed to determine the nature of the attitudes, interests, and common practices of public school educators concerning career orientation activities in the elementary schools of oklahoma. A random sample of educators were examined by means of a questionnaire to determine their perceptions toward: (1) the basic mission of the elementary school, (2) the extent to which career activities are presently included in the elementary curriculum, (3) the importance of career activities at the elementary level, and (4) the willingness of teachers and administrators to adjust the curriculum to better meet the needs of the students. There appeared to be no significant difference in the perceptions of elementary teachers, vocational-technical and practical arts teachers, and school administrators concerning items 1, 2, and 4 listed above. However, there was a significant difference in the perceptions of educators concerning the importance of career activities, the level of knowledge and basic skills acquired by elementary students, and the value of advisory groups in planning more effective classroom activities.
