Abstract	As part of a preliminary validation and to determine whether the Ohio Vocational Interest Survey (OVIS) could discriminate among the interests of high school students in six vocational areas (agriculture, distributive education, home economics, health, office, and trade and industrial), the OVIS was administered to 2,387 seniors in 24 schools representing 20 counties in Ohio. Results show that the OVIS is capable of discriminating among high school students in the six vocational areas, and therefore, further development of the OVIS is warranted. In addition, the study illustrates the operation of a computer-measurement system in guidance which assists vocational decision-making by providing a few meaningful indices from a big array of student data. Finally, this study shows how the OVIS might be used in vocational exploration and in the planning of vocational education programs. (Author/SB)
