| Abstract | Reports given before the Committee on "Research on the Theoretical Basis of Information" of the International Federation for Documentation (FID/RI) are presented unaltered and unabridged in English or in Russian -- the language of their presentation. Each report is accompanied by an English or Russian resume. Generally, only original studies not previously published have been included. The eight papers presented are: (1) "Big Science" and Problems of Scientific Communication, (2) A Systems Approach to the Problem of Building Up International Information Institutions, (3) Information Science Approaches to Scientific Information Systems and Their Implications to Scientific Researches, (4) The Optimum p% Library of Scientific Periodicals, (5) Information Barrier and "Laws" of Informatics, (6) Geometric Model for Selection of Hierarchic Levels of Descriptors, (7) Justification for a More Simple Approach to Communication of Information for Use in Industry and (8) Terminology Problems in New FID Programme.
