Abstract | This is a report of the May 6 and 7, 1970 meeting of the Joint Committee of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges on Education for Government Service. The report presents: (1) the members of the Committee, (2) the roster of attendance, (3) the remarks of the undersecretary of Agriculture J. Phil Campbell, and (4) summaries of the reports and panel discussions and the recommendations resulting from these. The reports and panels dealt with the following topics: (1) strengthening state and local institutions through a more effective federal relationship in agriculture and personnel; (2) new frontiers for Negro land grant colleges through the development of institutional resources, including attracting more minority group members to agriculture and related disciplines; (3) present and future programs in environmental quality control and ecology training and employment needs; (4) the management of human resources; and (5) new areas of expertise needed in the field of technical assistance for developing countries.
