Abstract | The Seminar was organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to bring together policy-making officials to determine the most efficient way of organizing the flow of industrial information and its application for the acceleration of the industrialization of developing countries. Background papers including the actual status of industrial services in the Department of Economic Affairs of the United Nations (ECA) and Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East (ECAFE) regions, and industrial information services in industrialized countries and organizations, and three policy documents on the main issues for establishing and operating industrial information services, were prepared. Topics discussed included information systems flow, feedback, staff, scope, service-charges, feasibility studies, use of mass media and computers, sharing information, role of the government and the information centers, and cooperation and mutual assistance between developing countries and relevant international organizations. A bibliography of 17 documents and background papers is appended. (AB) |
