| Abstract | The resource book "Classroom Out-of-Doors," divided into 15 chapters, presents a view of "one of the largest and best outdoor education programs in the nation." Since 1946, more than 250,000 sixth-grade pupils have spent a week at one of the three camps provided by the San Diego County Camp Commission. With tape recorder and camera in hand, the author tells what happens at the camps. He has included suggestions and answers for the following questions (1) What kind of teaching and teachers are required for these "transplanted classrooms"? (2) What happens to a child as a result of the new teaching approaches? (3) What is required in the way of organization and financial support? (4) What does the camping program mean to the community?
