Abstract | The heterogeneity among disadvantaged persons is a primary obstacle to developing relevant and efficient educational programs. Effective teaching of the disadvantaged will require the adaptation of methods and resources to individual learning needs, levels of motivation, and interests. A veriety of techniques have been developed for testing and evaluating the disadvantaged; the choice of technique remains with the occupational training team. A team approach to teacher behavior, communication, and assessment and a positive emphasis on student potential are important elements of success. The guidelines presented in this text are designed to enhance the team effort in preparing the disadvantaged for employment. (CH) |
