| Abstract | Described is the development of an instrument designed to measure the cognitive ability of evaluation in high school chemistry students. The instrument was composed of several situations found in chemistry courses, each designed to measure a student's evaluation ability based on his knowledge of kinetic-molecular theory as it applied to gases, liquids, and solids. There was no significant difference in knowledge ability between students taught in modern and traditional courses. An analysis of variance of class mean scores revealed that students from modern courses had a significantly higher (.01 level) evaluation ability. (RS) |
