AbstractIn July 1967, the Idaho State Department of Education requested the College of Education of the University of Idaho to undertake a study of the organization of the public school districts of the State. This publication contains a compilation of speeches and proceedings of the initial State conference at the University of Idaho. This conference was conducted by the staff of the Idaho School District Organization Study (ESEA Title III and V) and was designed to involve in the planning process leaders from business, labor, and industry, the State Department of Education, the State legislators, and leaders of professional organizations. It was organized to accomplish the following objectives: (1) Introduce conference participants to the School District Organization Study; (2) report patterns and trends in school district organization; (3) invite conference participants to become actively involved in the study, within a formal structure; and (4) receive feedback from participants concerning the structure of the study. The first publication of the study, entitled "An Invitation to Planning in Education," is included. A related document is EA 002 640. (DE)
