Abstract	Vancouver City College conducted a 3-year study on two groups of students who transferred from that institution to the University of British Columbia. The first group transferred after completing one year of college and the second group after two years. The academic performance and degree attainment of the two transfer groups were compared, and it was found that attrition and graduation rates of the students varied according to the university program they entered. In general, students who had completed two years at Vancouver City College (especially those who were 25 years and older) were more likely to graduate as scheduled than were students who had completed only one year before transferring. One-year transfers, however, performed better academically than did 2-year transfers. Whether students were full- or part-time had little consequence as far as completion of the university program was concerned. (RC)
