Abstract	Objectives of this paper were to define the concept of programing, to discuss programing in a complex adult education organization, and to point out aspects of programing of a sociological nature. Programing is a decision-making process. In a complex adult education organization, the process can be divided into eight phases: formulating the program framework; adapting this framework to the various levels of organization; organizing human resources at the operational level needed to plan a program; decision-making at the operational level; the planned program prospectus; the plan of work; implementing the plan; and program accomplishments. Inherent in the process are a number of interrelated steps which suggest tasks to be performed by individual(s) or groups. Performance of these tasks may be influenced by individual characteristics and behavior, interaction within a group, and the homogeneity or heterogeneity of the group. The clarity with which the general social system is understood by those within the system has considerable bearing on the nature of program decisions made. (author/eb)
