AbstractThis project was undertaken at the Pennsylvania State University during the academic year 1964-65 with the threefold purpose of developing and recording on videotape an introductory educational psychology course; presenting the course, under field conditions, to students enrolled in off-campus continuing education classes; and evaluating the videotape course as an instructional tool for students who do not have access to resident programs of instruction. A course was recorded on helical scan videotape under studio conditions using high-quality videcon cameras. It was offered to three groups of students with a total enrollment of 25 by transporting the equipment to the location of students for each class session. Liaison between the students and the professor was provided by the graduate assistant who transported the equipment. With proper maintenance the equipment proved to be completely reliable. Both on-campus and off-campus students achieved a satisfactory level, but the attitude of the latter, as measured by the course attitude questionnaire was somewhat above that of the campus control group. Students, however, expressed a desire for more contact with the professor. (Author/GO)
