Abstract | Citing relevant studies and providing statistical data in 29 figures and 28 tables in the text and 15 appended tables, the report describes the characteristics of Texas' three major ethnic groups, Anglos, Latin Americans, and Negroes; discusses mental retardation in relation to socio-cultural factors, deprivation, health factors, education and illiteracy, and migrancy; and considers the characte"istics of residential school enrollment. One bibliography cites 70 items; a second annotates 52 items on Latin American migrant labor. Guide questions for Negro and Latin American group meetings and excerpts from the Texas migrant health project are included. (JD) |
