Abstract | This high school agricultural occupations teacher's guide was developed as part of a pilot program and tested at Reidland High School. The course objective is to develop skills and understandings needed in agricultural supply sales and service. Units are (1) Opportunities in Agricultural Occupations, (2) Orientation to the Training Program, (3) Organization of Distributive Businesses, (4) Agricultural Mathematics, (5) Human Relations and Personality Traits, (6) Store Skills, (7) Salesmanship and Selling, (8) Feeds, (9) Seeds, (10) Fertilizers, and (11) Agricultural Chemicals. The outline for each unit contains (1) learnings needed to reach the objective, (2) suggestions for introducing the unit, (3) student goals, (4) information for providing the class instruction, (5) teaching suggestions, (6) suggested student participation, (7) decision making ideas, and (8) references. The one-year course should be used by teachers competent in agricultural sales and service. Pre-tests and post-tests for each unit, illustrations when needed for clarity, and evaluative questionnaires for completion by the teacher, student, and the employer or supervisor are included.
