AbstractTWO 6-WEEK WORKSHOPS WERE CONDUCTED AT OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY FOR 60 SELECTED VOCATIONAL AGRICULTURE TEACHERS FROM 17 STATES DURING THE SUMMERS OF 1965 AND 1966 WITH THE OBJECTIVES OF (1) UPGRADING TEACHERS IN THE DISTRIBUTIVE PHASES OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION, (2) ACQUANTING TEACHERS WITH SUPERVISED TRAINING METHODS, (3) HELPING RURAL HIGH SCHOOLS BY QUALIFYING TEACHERS TO CONDUCT DISTRIBUTIVE PROGRAMS, AND (4) ADAPTING EXISTENT INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL IN DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION TO THE NEEDS OF VOCATIONAL AGRICULTURE. DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION COORDINATORS TAUGHT MUCH OF THE COURSE, AND A VARIETY OF METHODS AND ACTIVITIES WERE UTILIZED INCLUDING SEMINARS AND TOURS. TWO WORKSHOPS REPORTS CONTAINING LESSON PLANS, REFERENCES, AND IDEAS, AND MANY PROMOTIONAL AIDS WERE DEVELOPED. MORE THAN 200 COPIES OF THE REPORTS WERE SENT TO PERSONS REQUESTING THEM. PRE- AND POST-TEST DATA SHOWED THAT PARTICIPANTS INCREASED THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF DISTRIBUTION SIGNIFICANTLY. ALTHOUGH FOLLOWUP EVALUATION REVEALED THAT PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION WAS DIFFICULT, PARTICIPANTS HAD INTEGRATED AGRICULTURAL DISTRIBUTION UNITS OF INSTRUCTION INTO REGULAR INSTRUCTION, AND MOST WERE TEACHING JOB APPLICATION AND SALESMANSHIP, AND MAKING MERCHANDISING MANUALS. TEACHERS IN MULTIPLE TEACHER DEPARTMENTS WERE MORE LIKELY TO HAVE IMPLEMENTED THEIR PROGRAMS. IMPLEMENTING WORKSHOP PLANS WAS DEPENDENT ON PERSONS AND FACTORS OTHER THAN THE PARTICIPANT, SUCH AS AVAILABILITY OF TRAINING STATIONS IN HOME COMMUNITIES. REFERENCES, INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS DEVELOPED DURING THE WORKSHOP, EXCERPTS FROM WORKSHOP REPORTS, A SAMPLE COPY OF A NEWSLETTER, AND EVALUATION AND IMPLEMENTATION DATA ARE INCLUDED. (JM)
