AbstractTHIS STUDY EXPLORED THE ROLE OF EDUCATIONAL MEDIA IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION, TO ASSIST THE U.S. OFFICE OF EDUCATION IN FORMING EDUCATIONAL POLICY. 4 APPENDED POSITION PAPERS AND THE SECTIONS ON RESULTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS ARE THE MAIN ELEMENTS OF THE REPORT. THE STUDY RESULTS ARE A SERIES OF OBSERVATIONS ON VOCATIONAL EDUCATION'S INADEQUACIES IN (1) THE GENERAL USE OF MEDIA, (2) INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA MATERIALS, (3) FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT, AND (4) PERSONNEL TRAINING AND INFORMATION DISSEMINATION. A RECOMMENDATION THAT THE USOE RECOGNIZE THE GREAT CONTRIBUTIONS EDUCATIONAL MEDIA AND MEDIA SYSTEMS CAN MAKE TO VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IS SUPPORTED BY SPECIFICS URGING A NATIONAL PROGRAM TO PREPARE OCCUPATIONAL INFORMATION IN NEW MEDIA FORMS, NATIONAL CURRICULUM AND COURSE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS, A MEDIA EVALUATION PROJECT, A PROJECT TO IDENTIFY AND MAKE AVAILABLE MEDIA MATERIALS DEVELOPED IN BUSINESS-INDUSTRY AND MILITARY GOVERNMENT, A SYSTEM PROVIDING INFORMATION ON NEEDED CHANGES IN MEDIA, USOE LEADERSHIP IN FORMING STANDARDS FOR INSTRUCTIONAL HARDWARE, A USOE PROGRAM OF MEDIA INFORMATION DISSEMINATION, MEDIA INSTITUTES FOR TEACHERS OF VOCATIONAL-TECHNICAL COURSE, AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN AGENCY WITHIN THE USOE RESPONSIBLE FOR EDUCATIONAL MEDIA.
