Abstract | THE GUIDE CONSISTS OF FOUR PARTS--(1) AN INDEX OF BASIC RESOURCE UNITS AND DIRECTIONS FOR THEIR USE, (2) OUTLINES FOR EACH UNIT, (3) UNIT AND STUDENT RECORDS SHEETS, AND (4) SUPPORTIVE MATERIALS, SUCH AS BOOKS AND SOURCES FOR FREE MATERIAL. BASED ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT TEACHERS OF GRADES 1-9 HAVE TAUGHT PIVOTAL SKILLS, THE SERIES OF UNITS PROVIDE FOR CONTINUITY OF INSTRUCTION. STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EDUCABLE MENTALLY HANDICAPPED INCLUDE SIX REQUIRED UNITS, THREE OF WHICH ARE IN COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS AND ONE EACH IN SOCIAL SCIENCES, LIFE SCIENCES, AND COMPUTATIONAL SKILLS.
