AbstractIntercultural education is the most accurate model of attention to diversity to reach a quality education. It is based on the premise that cultural diversity is natural in the human being and desirable itself, and it tends to be more a humanistic than a social-critic focus, prioritizing specific persons and their educational process. Even in this case, there are certain aspects which are badly stated in intercultural education and which present a contradiction between the principles and the objectives. These aspects can put in danger the purposes of the model, and they are: the strong schoolarization of intercultural education, the development of cultural competences, understanding other, equality and equity, dialogue between cultures and exaltation of cultures
