Abstract | Kate Corkery and Geoff Schoenberg engage in a critical reflection on the approaches and methods Sport Australia has implemented to guide and induce good governance in sport federations. Drawing on their experiences and observations as senior staff members, they provide a unique practitioner perspective on the successes and failures of Sport Australia's relatively long-standing good governance policies. In particular, they identify a number of lessons. These include the importance of the change process, centring compliance on outcomes and development, complementing policy with support and education, and ensuring that any policy is consistent and easily accessible. This shows that designing and implementing good governance policy should be a joint process that requires constant interaction and adjustment. (Autor). |
