Abstract	Cognitive Activation is one of three basic dimensions of successful and high quality teaching. What does Cognitive Activation mean for the subject of Physical Education, which is primarily about motor skills, body awareness and physical experience? And how can appropriate learning processes be designed so that cognitive activation and cognitive learning outcomes are not left to chance? These questions are explored in the following steps: Based on the educational mandate of Physical Education, the authors first clarifie why Cognitive Activation plays a role in Physical Education and which cognitive learning goals are derived from that (Section 1). The relationship between cognition and motor skills is discussed (Section 2). Subsequently, it is shown how Cognitive Activation in Physical Education can be made possible by an appropriate task culture (Section 3). This is illustrated by concrete and already field-tested practical examples (Section 4). (Autor).
