Abstract | The objective of the present research was to structure the program of the discipline "Theory and methodology of chosen sport" for Physical Education (bachelor's programme) to improve the quality of teaching in the processes of training and professional development of coaching staff and provide competitive experts in vocational practice. Modern scientific potential of sports reserve training; scientific data on the specifics of long-term training of advanced and elite athletes significantly expand understanding of the peculiarities of adaptation to training loads of those involved and the content of training programs in the chosen sport. However, the content of vocational training programs for coaching staff needs to be constantly updated and improved, the latest scientific developments should be used; the unity of methodological requirements to the organization of sports training in children's and youth sports organizations is to be provided. A combination of theoretical and empirical research methods; variants of complex systems analysis of attitudes and requirements specified in the official documents regarding experts' competency and criteria for assessing professional work of teachers-trainers was used in the development of the building block system of the program of the discipline "Theory and methodology of chosen sport". The data allowed to systematize the content of education in the actual areas of activities of experts regarding sports training and to define the basic modules of the discipline "Theory and methodology of chosen sport".
