Abstract | Under the premise that many distance education initiatives, when effectuated, maintain practices associated with traditional education and instructionism, with little participation and engagement on behalf of learners towards the realization of the progressive pedagogical models on which these same projects are based, we inquire upon the engaged learning concept, from its theoretical conceptions, as well as the strategies for its implementation. Besides promoting learners' autonomy, these principles are justified by the reduction of the high levels of dropout and lack of motivation that characterize this modality. Specifically, we associate dialogue based communication practices, in the context of interactivity in technological learning systems as a source of student engagement towards the teaching-learning process. |
