| Abstract | Making friends is an important social skill which teachers and parents can help train and encourage at an early age. Some children find it incredibly easy to make friends, others might be shy or have poor social skills which can prevent them from taking the first step. We can help and encourage children to take that first step by providing them with short dialogues. These can be used as a kind of "language scaffolding" which pupils can adapt for themselves and practise in role play situations. How can we ask someone if they want to play? How can we respond in a polite way? What can we do in case we are rejected? (Verlag). |
