Abstract | Drawing upon a functional stylistic analysis of a modern classic in children's literature, the "Easy Peasy People" series (consisting of twelve independent but related stories), various arguments are put forward why these stories represent ideal input material for learners aged 11+. The stories are carefully scripted blending witty dialogues perfectly into an entertaining narrative body. Since the series draws upon a humorous and idiomatic use of language its linguistic quality makes it a valuable additional resource (complementing the work with the textbook) bringing elements of natural second language acquisition into a competence- and activity-oriented foreign language classroom.
