| Abstract | "Katie.com"," the autobiographical book by Katherine Tarbox, presents in detail how the author was stalked and almost molested at the age of 13 by a paedophile and sexual predator, whom she had met in an Internet chat room. The three extracts from the book were chosen to mark three important stages of Katie's story and in her development, i.e. her personal background and her first contact with the Internet, her first contact with a chat room partner and the lessons she learned from her experiences. The suggestions can be used on the one hand in a series of lessons dealing with the problems of young people, but on the other hand they can be regarded as a way of making young people familiar with the dangers of teenage chat rooms, thus as a contribution in the field of media education.
