(Orig.). The identification of gifted students is a topic significant in the field of scholastic education and instruction. In accordance with different theoretical models of giftedness, choices must be made among the various procedures used in identification. In practice, the identification process usually ends with the ascertainment of giftedness, whereby such assessments usually neglect to explore feasible methods of encouragement. This contribution introduces the ENTER model of identification, and its implementation, which find their basis in the Actiotope Model of Giftedness. In that this talent model is essentially a systemic approach, which aims not to identify persons but rather a learning path which would lead a person to achievement excellence, the process does not conclude with the identification of specific personality traits such as intelligence or creativity, but rather also encompasses the identification of optimal methods to further develop the talents of the individual in question. Following a brief overview of ENTER and relevant aspects of the Actiotope Model, pertinent information will be discussed for each of the steps comprising ENTER. Since the identification of gifted pupils with a need for remedial support has been largely neglected in the past, a subsequent discussion will address the practical application of ENTER with regard to this group of persons.
