Abstract | This book covers a variety of techniques, including tabular analysis, log-linear models for tabular data, regression analysis in its various forms, regression diagnostics and robust regression, ways to cope with missing data, logistic regression, factor-based and other techniques for scale construction, and fixed- and random-effects models as a way to make causal inferences. But this is not a statistics book; the emphasis is on using these procedures to draw substantive conclusions about how the social world works. Accordingly, the book is designed for a course to be taken after a first-year graduate statistics course in the social sciences. (DIPF/Orig.). |
