Abstract | The textbook consists of five major parts ... The first part of the book (Teaching) discusses the process of teaching, the concerns beginning teachers routinely have, and reflective teaching. The second part (Development) discusses issues such as cognitive development, social development, and intelligence. The third part (Learning) discusses behavioural, cognitive, social learning, and social constructivism approaches to learning. The fourth part (Motivation) discusses the nature of student motivation, teachers' motivating styles, and how teachers can support students' motivation during learning activities. The fifth part (Assessment) discusses principles of assessment, grading, standardized tests, and standards-based assessments. Collectively, these five sections represent the essential content that students must know as they prepare to become teachers. (DIPF/Orig.). |
