Abstract	[The book - Adults Education nr. 22] documents the presentations, papers and deliberations of ... the first symposium on "Adult Education and Development" in recent times. The symposium was held on the occasion of 100 years of diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and Germany and 35 years of cooperation in adult education between the Ministry of Education and the Institute of International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association. The objective of the symposium was to demonstrate the general relationship between adult education and development, to present what is known about adult education in Ethiopia, to present selected examples of cooperation between IIZ/DVV and their Ethiopian partners, and finally, to formulate recommendations towards the establishment of a national adult education system. The structure of the publication follows the objectives of the symposium, the presentations are grouped into four major topics: adult education and development, adult education in Ethiopia, Ethiopia-German cooperation in adult education and perspectives and challenges in adult education in Ethiopia.
