Abstract	In this transformation- and knowledge-based society, the competent use of new media has for some time now been established as a further fundamental cultural technique. The field of education, in particular, cannot ignore this development: it is imperative to explore the opportunities and limitations of innovative e-learning concepts for learning and teaching processes, make use of these new opportunities and develop and test scenarios for their pedagogically meaningful integration. In the following, we will present our experiences with/of such a "trial", which was conducted in the context of a supervised online tutorial. We describe the manner and degree to which our concept, which has been under continuous development, facilitates the transfer of knowledge and the development of competencies on different levels. The promotion of differing aspects of information-pedagogical competencies is a central focus. Furthermore, challenges and concerns surrounding virtual group processes are addressed.
