Abstract | This article analyses the social, cultural and educational meanings of new German education known as Reformpädagogik, through open debates that have come with its development for a century. As a result, it puts into perspective the fundamental notions and concepts that have been set and spread by several concerned trends. The author questions mainly the links - viewed as positive by some and negative by others - that these notions have with the modernity of Western societies and consequently it gives a model of interpretation of Reformpädagogik integrating the different or opposed points of view while emphasizing the fact that the "need for reform" has multiple sources: "child-centered" learning approach, children's active teaching, role, quest for meaning even salvation in a disillusioned world, desire to find some lost wholeness (or some human community), etc. (DIPF/orig.). |
