Abstract | The key issue of this volume is the discussion on implementing the competency-based approach in the content of modern education. The first chapter comprises an important study and comparative analysis of the global experience with respect to this issue. By means of an analysis of trends the authors find evidence to the wide scale implementation of the competency-based education in the pedagogical practice of various foreign countries that promotes acquiring the vital (key) competencies by learners. The process of developing monitoring procedures for tracking the learning outcomes and ensuring the acquisition of competencies by education fields is not of less importance. This provides the opportunity to assess the education efficacy and its compliance with modern needs in the labour market and in the society. The authors particularly emphasize the need for deep fundamental research of the very nature of competency-based education. The second chapter presents the studies creating the holistic vision of discussion stages, of the condition and evolvement of trends related to implementing the competency-based approach in shaping the educational content in the national schooling.
