Abstract	This research paper aims to identify and analyse possible causes of the lack or discontinuity of the physical activities in primary school from 1955 to today, in two ways: an analysis of primary school teaching programmes in force since 1955 until today, in relation to the objectives of physical education and gender diversity; and an analysis of the training programme of primary school teachers in force since 1955 until today, in relation to the objectives of physical education and gender difference.
