AbstractThe society we live in is continuously changing. We talk about changing in every domain of life: politics, economy, education and so on. Education is one of the most important domains of social life that has been affected by change, that is why we can quote Gaston Berger (1973) who said that we have to be prepared for a changing world, by education. For this today we can talk about various methods and ways of teaching and learning, using the 'new education' like: education for change, economic, ecologic education etc. In the first type of education we can talk about the use of the computer in the process of teaching, learning and the evaluation of student's competences. Nowadays the use of the computer is a necessity in schools, especially because almost every child has one of his or her own at home and almost every job requires computer-related skills. Computer Assisted Management, Computer- Assisted Learning and Instruction, Computer based Training, Computer Assisted Testing are the four ways in which a teacher can use the computer in his/her activity. All these applications have benefits they ensure the variety of teaching methods and their ways of doing it; use different types of learning; lead to a proper evaluation of the results of teaching or students' competences. Unfortunately, not all the teachers can teach this way, because they do not have the necessary abilities, so we can only hope that some special training will be provided in the near future.(Orig.).
