Abstract | In this article, based on the theoretical frame developed by Michel Huteau which accounts for the emergence of school and professional choices, different points of view are being re-examined regarding individual development, in order to debate about the link between courses and careers choosing on one hand and education on the other. The analysis serves the purpose of making proposals concerning the setting up inside schools of a work community specific to the field of courses and careers guidance. This community, considered from the point of view of the various functions of the people in charge, raises the question of the meaning of the activities offered to the students within the frame of courses and careers guidance.
